Don't call it a spade
I’m thinking of a redesign for the blog. Any suggestions for a nice theme?
something that looks similar to github markdown documents

Maybe go for a more cheerful tone. “Don’t worry, you won’t drown, tons of people are on the way to save you.” Have you considered trying to hawk your own line of vitamin supplements and energy drinks? And what’s with the whole anonymity thing? That’s so much social status you’re leaving on the table.
Seriously though, I support the current layout. The color scheme is easy on the eyes, there are no obnoxious ads, pages load quickly. The blog is very accessible.
“Don’t worry, you won’t drown, tons of people are on the way to save you.”
“Democracy drowns in silence”
Nah, “Don’t worry, you won’t drown alone”
Don’t go Web 2.0, i beg you, it can only turn out slower and less responsive.
I like it as is too, simple but not shabby. Never thought about it, though. Only thing I wish could be different is ability to ‘Reply’ to someone without a cutoff after 3 or 4, but that may be the way WordPress is. Sometimes a reply to someone is intended, and it isn’t understood to be, because gets thrown down in vague space.
We’re reactionaries — we like your blog without any freshening or sprucing up.
I can adjust that, but the indentation gets messed up in mobile after a few replies.
who cares. just post more.
Maybe a cool design might motivate me to write more.

Spandrell I understand you are a longtime brony, just have it in the color scheme of your favorite pony, there’s nothing to it! /) *awaits brohoof*
Fellow reactionary brony,out.
Please don’t. The design is fine. Don’t make a change if there is no need. Neomania is as seductive as progressivsm, but you should know about the dangers of either.
Thing is, this theme has been deprecated so I don’t have much of a choice here.
What do you mean with “this theme”? Who has disapproved? How can you have “not much of a choice”? You don’t have a boss or a paying customer who has to be kept happy.
Seriously, I like the design as it is. The above comments show that other readers share my opinion. It usually annoys me if blog designs change. I read a blog for the connent. Any change distracts from the content, makes is slightly harder to find the content as I first have to get used to the new design.
WordPress has design templates they call “themes”. This one has been deprecated so I need to find a new one.
And this is a damn blog, how hard can it be to find the content? Don’t worry, I’m not planning anything flashy. But some visual improvement could be nice.
Whatever theme you choose could you have your site display catergories or tags? Here is some suggestion for themes, what about Bhari if you want continuity or Syntax if you want change or pick Blankstate if you just want to mess with us.
Thank you. I’ll see what I can do about tags.
Black on white, paper/mag looking, close to basic HTML, respectable, perhaps with a huge bloody mouthed vampire artwork on top to make it not overly respectable.
Personally, I’m a big fan of the white-on-black of e.g. Xenosystems. It’s objectively easier on the eyes to look for points of light in darkness than points of darkness in light. Stars are easier to see than sunspots. A computer monitor is not a piece of paper.
Also it fits the somewhat “black pill” theme here.
Thing is many people use OS-level software to invert colors at night; so that every website ends up white on black. In that case Xenosystems would became the other way around, which is a major problem. I find grey to be a good compromise.
Grey could probably work very well if you really don’t like this. I’m used to the Xenosystems black-on-white, but never really liked it that much. Your kinds of posts are often very different and you use more pictures. I don’t pay much attention to the pictures he puts up, bbecause they’re much more effective on the white as you’ve done them.
Nothing wrong with a computer monitor looking like a piece of paper.
Racing stripes. Flames.
OK being serious I looked at free themes and “Ever After” is for weddings and says,”subtle but gorgeous textures and ornaments.”. I’m betting you could get a nice parchment look. I happen to like a book look online. Also says,”…wide one-column layout…” which is what you have now. See if you like it.
So I look at the demo and it’s, it’s well weddingly but I think there’s some value in having a wedding theme for a site called bloody shovel.
